EXTINGUISHER MAINTENANCE

The Importance of Routine Fire Extinguisher Maintenance

All building owners have a legal requirement to ensure that their fire equipment on site is maintained in accordance with the Australian Standards relating to those ESMs. Penalties for failing to fulfil this requirement include fines or even building notices being issued by your local council or fire authority officers.

Updating your Annual Essential Safety Measures Report by securing routine fire extinguisher servicing and other ESM testing can help you avoid being hit with any fines. In the event that your building does experience a fire-related emergency, you also want to ensure that your fire extinguisher is in good working order and ready to respond as needed. Having the right fire extinguisher on-hand can help reduce the damage caused by fire-related emergencies in your building or work premises.

Routine fire extinguisher testing is also vital for maintaining your extinguisher for the length of its usable lifespan. Detecting any operational concerns or signs of damage proactively can help support the longevity of your fire extinguisher as well as drastically reduce the risks of damage or injury caused by operating a faulty or damaged unit.

Staying on top of your fire extinguisher maintenance requirements will help ensure that your building and/or work premises are safe to inhabit or occupy. In short, an investment in your fire equipment maintenance is an investment in safety for your staff, tenants, and all other building occupants.

How Do Fire Maintenance Services Work?

Alexon deliver scheduled, affordable and on-time fire extinguisher maintenance services in Melbourne

Following your enquiry, our fire safety technicians will first go through your building’s occupancy permit to confirm your ESM determinations (i.e. all the fire equipment that is located or has been installed on-site, and their respective maintenance requirements). Depending on the size of the building, a site assessment may be required.Following a site assessment and review of your ESM determinations, our fire safety technicians will then draft up a quote for your fire extinguisher maintenance and any other services.

Upon your acceptance of the quote provided, our fire safety technicians will then work with you to complete all required routine maintenance to a schedule that suits you. During your fire extinguisher maintenance appointment, you can expect our fire safety technicians to perform maintenance on valves, operating levers, pressure gauges, and all the other functional components of your fire extinguisher.

Once the fire extinguisher testing has been completed, we will then generate a comprehensive fire safety report that outlines all detected and resolved maintenance issues that may have been identified during our routine testing. We’ll either confirm that your fire extinguishers are compliant or outline what further repairs are required. If it’s the latter, we’ll generate a separate quote and schedule further visits by our technicians.

Our fire extinguisher maintenance service includes a comprehensive inspection of the fire extinguishers on your premises. Our experienced technicians test and inspect your fire extinguishers thoroughly, noting down repairs.
